Skincare Review: Derma e Vitamin C Intense Night Cream

How are you lovelies handling the change in temperatures? Fall finally decided to show up near the end of October and of course it gave me and every other person in my area a cold as well. I don't know about you lovelies, but colds and any type of sickness affects my skin. I tend to break out, develop dry patches, and just take on a dull-looking complexion. So, I purchased Derma e's Vitamin C Intense Night Cream from Walgreen's last month. Want to know if it helped my skin bounce back? Read on to find out.

My Skin Situation Before Using Product

Let me go over my skin stats so You guys know what I am dealing with and what the product has to work on. Quick stats: combination skin, acne-prone, uneven tone due to hyperpigmentation and old scarring. New issues affecting my skin: healing from an allergic reaction that gave me a body rash (including three spots on my face), dry peeling skin, and a dull complexion. My skin was in that state due to some health issues plus a cold I was dealing with along with the dry, cold air in the nursing home that is making my skin drier than normal.

About Derma e Vitamin C Intense Night Cream

Derma e describes their Vitamin C Intense Night Cream as a:
"nonoxidizing Vitamin C formula delivers restoring overnight protection, reducing the appearance of uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles. Probiotics and Rooibos work harmoniously with Vitamin C to shield and build up your skin’s natural defenses while fighting harmful bacteria that cause blemishes and premature skin aging. This intense night cream promotes cell turnover while neutralizing daily toxins. Your skin will appear smoother, firmer, and more revitalized. We use a stable form of Vitamin C that won’t evaporate or alter before absorbing into your skin, to work better for you, naturally."

I am not going to list all the ingredients in the cream. For the purposes of this review, I want to get into the anti-aging and skin loving ingredients found in this cream.

  • Vitamin C: Has antioxidant and skin brightening/evening properties.
  • Hyaluronic Acid: Helps skin retain moisture and look "plumper".
  • Apricot Kernel Oil: Treats acne and moisturizes.
  • Sunflower Seed Oil: An emollient or skin softener.
  • Sweet Almond Oil: Helps to clear pores, which is good for preventing acne, and moisturizes skin.
  • Asian Lizard's Tail: The common name for Saururus Chinensis Extract sounds scary but this is actually an herb. It has skin brightening properties and treats inflammation.
  • Rooibos: The benefits of this plant haven't been studied much. Many skincare websites and blogs believe it works for acne, to control oil in skin, and has antioxidant properties to name a few of its touted key benefits.
  • Licorice Root Extract: Helps even skin tone.
  • Green Tea: antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties
  • Olive Oil: moisturizes skin and has antioxidant properties
  • Vitamin A: Helps skin cells and reduce appearance of wrinkles
  • Provitamin B5: Soothes, moisturizes and regenerates skin cells
  • Vitamin E: An antioxidant that also helps with skin moisturization

How I Used Derma e Vitamin C Intense Night Cream

I've been using this night cream for a little over two weeks. I use it at night after applying my AcneFree Repair Lotion. I use a very little bit of cream. In fact, I am still using the bit that collects on the inner, plastic covering.

My Results

After using Derma e Vitamin C Intense Night Cream for over two weeks I've noticed the following:

  • Helped heal my skin after I developed a rash from an allergic reaction to Keflex.
  • I wake up to softer, smoother skin even in the dry air of the nursing home.
  • It continues the work my C-ESTA serum does during the day by brightening my skin.
  • My face feels moisturized and not oily when I wake up in the morning.

My Final Grade: A

I give this night cream an A. All the night creams I've used in the past have left my skin feeling and looking oily when I wake up. This is the only one that hasn't done this. I have not had any acne breakouts. It has helped with the rash I developed where I only have three spots that are clearing. All the dry skin I had from the rash is gone. It has helped to keep my skin brighter. I love that a little goes a long way.

I do recommend giving Derma e Vitamin C Intense Night Cream a try. It is a cold-weather must-have for me.
