Macy's #Fall2016 Lookbook Has Plenty of Work-Friendly Fashions

Alright lovelies, this is both part of the Career Style series and about fall fashion. Macy's released their fall fashion lookbook last month. I finally had the chance to really analyze the featured fashions for Fall 2016. I am happy to see there are plenty of work-friendly fashions that are not boring. Here I will highlight the selections that I feel are very real and wearable options for the business casual office dress code this fall.

The Trends Macy's Fashion Experts Highlight for Fall 2016

Macy's Fashion Experts have focused on two fall fashion trends when developing this lookbook. One trend involves taking a cue from the guys. Men's fashion is a heavy influence on the styles within the lookbook for women. This, if you remember, is a good thing when it comes to selecting items for your office wardrobe.

The second trend is taking things back to the 1960s once again. I don't know what it is about fall fashion and the 1960s? It seems like every other year the 60s mod look is a trend for fall. I wonder if it has to do with boots? Seriously, fall does lend itself well to classic mod styles like short A-line dresses and skirt, high leather boots, color-blocked ensembles, and of course the dark colored turtleneck.

While a lot of the 60s trends do not lend themselves for the business casual office, some aspects of it like the turtleneck and colorblocking are office-friendly. Of course, borrowing from men's fashion lends itself well to the business casual dress code. Some of the items below are shown as a complete ensemble but I will have parenthetical notes indicating which items are actually the office-friendly ones.

Alfani zip-up cape $239.50, sleeveless turtleneck $39.50, cigarette ponte knit pant $69.50

Alfani sleeveless coat $129.50, cigarette (relaxed) pants $79.50

Charter Club collarless windowpane coat $149.50

Charter Club long cardigan $79.50, tie-neck floral blouse $69.50, slim-fit ankle pants $89.50

Alfani colorblocked coat $159.50

Thalia Sodi draped suede jacket $99.50

Style & Co. printed trench coat $79.50

Maison Jules (millennial girls/juniors) suede trench coat $149.50

Alfani graphic blouse $69.50, culottes $69.50

Thalia Sodi floral print wrap dress $89.50 (not for tall women)

Thalia Sodi laser-cut suede pencil skirt $69.50 (skirt-only)

This skirt toes the line. So I suggest wearing tights under it.

Material Girl skinny pants $22.50 (pants-only)

Maison Jules ribbed turtleneck sweater dress $69.50

These items from the Macy's Fall 2016 Lookbook are great for mixing and matching to wear to work. They are good for your off-time as well. There is a mix of misses and juniors clothing in here. Yes, juniors is traditionally for teens but there are women who still wear these sizes and teens also get office jobs. So it is good that they know what items would be acceptable for a business casual office. Take a look at some of the other clothing items from the Macy's Fall 2016 Lookbook below:
