My Birthday Beauty Prep and Elf Haul Video

Hey lovelies! Pardon this post because I am writing it on the fly. Which means there is no draft, no serious proofing and editing happening. You probably will see a lot of typos and other grammatical errors. The reason for this is that I am in the middle of my birthday beauty prep. Yes, tomorrow your girl turns 39 and while I can't party like its 1999, I can sure look good regardless! lol

Hair Prep

I had to my kinky curls in order. So I am giving a shout out to the products that have cleaned my hair and left it smelling like Ultra Perm (Coming to America reference).

  • Derma e Scalp Relief Shampoo (SLS-free) and Conditioner. These were products I received free from derma e when selected to promote their Psorzema products. Love this line!
  • Not Your Mother's Way To Grow Leave-In Conditioner. I got this during a BOGO 50% off sale at Walgreens earlier in the year.
  • Dark and Lovely Au Naturelle Soak It Up Oil Cocktail. Received this free in the Essence Beauty Box I was sent to promote on social media a couple of months ago.
  • Shea Moisture Strengthen, Grow, and Restore Leave-In Conditioner from the Jamaican Black Castor Oil line. Purchased this during a BOGO free sale at Walgreens earlier in the year.

Now my hair is set in two-strand twists secured into a Bantu knot. I am allowing my hair to set overnight while wrapped in a doo-rag (don't let the fashion runways try to reinvent these they are doo-rags plain and simple).

Skin Prep

Today and tomorrow morning are filled with face masks. This morning I cleansed my face using my free birthday gift from Sephora, the fresh Soy Cleanser. I followed that with the Rose Face Mask. After the mask I toned skin with my Dickinson's Pore Perfecting Toner. I double serum using a hyalronic and retinol serum with a vitamin C serum. L'Oreal's Revitalift Volume Filler Eye Serum to perk my eyes up. Moisturized with Neutrogena Rapid Clear Lotion because I still get acne breakouts.

Tonight's game plan is simple Noxzema Original Cleansing Cream, Dickinson's Toner, derma e Eye Lift under eye cream,  and Sephora Collection Green Tea Sleep Mask. I've been using the Sephora mask for five nights and my skin is clearer but it has not mattified my skin. My sebum is too strong!

Tomorrow's game plan is to wash using the soy cleanser, exfoliate using Valentia's Eternal Youth Scrub, UNANI's dermo defense face mask, and Dickinson's toner. I will double serum again, use the same eye serum but will use the Neutrogena Rapid Clear Spot Gel. This is the skincare ground work for tomorrow's makeup. I am not sure what I will do with my face yet.

E.l.f Haul

My e.l.f order finally arrived this week! I was lucky enough to receive two great deals on this order which I disclosed in my May Purchases post. I did have one snafu with one item not in the shipment. Thankfully, I was connected with a very helpful CS rep at e.l.f who arranged for my missing item to be shipped out again and it is on its way.  I don't feel like writing down everything I purchased so here is the receipt screenshot.

This picture is speaking a thousand words (maybe a thousand characters) so here is the Instagram-short, haul video for you to check out.

I will give a quick post on social media showing my birthday look. If you don't already follow me please do so. See ya later lovelies!
