Eczema and Psoriasis are skin conditions that affect 28 million and 7.5 million people in the United States respectively, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. They often cause scaly patches of skin to appear on different parts of the body. Treatments vary and not all treatments, whether prescription or non-prescription work. In fact, many prescription medicines have scary side effects, so seeking a more natural alternative may be ideal for some. This is why derma e created the Psorzema skincare line.
My Eczema Story
I suffer from seborrheic dermatitis, which is a form of eczema. I have it on my scalp, behind my ears, on my ears, eyebrows, and sometimes around my nose and cheeks (if I have a bad flare up). I developed it around my mid-twenties. It first began with my eyebrows and nose. Once I hit my thirties, it started at my scalp and ears. When I had a flare up, I just had to deal with it. I used a dandruff shampoo for my scalp and tried to keep the skin elsewhere well moisturized until the flare ups subsided.
For my scalp, in addition to the shampoos, I had to use smelly scalp treatments. While those sulfur and tar scalp treatments did help they smelled horrible. This is why I was so eager to test and review derma e's Psorzema products which include a face/body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and Psorzema Crème.
Derma e Psorzema Crème
Moisturizing those irritated, scaly patches of skin that eczema and psoriasis cause is essential. That is not the only therapy those scaly patches need. Inflammation, redness, along with treating the scaliness is needed during those flare ups. This is where derma e Psorzema Crème helps.
Psorzema Crème contains herbal extracts, oils, and vitamins that soften and soothe skin while reducing the redness associated with many eczema and psoriasis flare ups. This video will tell you more about Psorzema Crème:
How I use Derma E Psorzema Products
I wash and condition my hair and scalp using derma e's Scalp Relief Shampoo and Conditioner with Therapeutic Psorzema Herbal Blend. The main ingredient is salicylic acid which helps with healthy skin cell turnover. The hair products are also SLS-free (sulfate-free). All of this makes for a gentle cleansing that calms, de-flakes, nourishes, and soothes the scalp.
I use the Psorzema Body Wash on my face since this is where I have eczema flare ups. I also pay close attention to my hair line and ears because they get it bad. I follow up both hair and face washing by applying Psorzema Crème to my scalp, ears, hair line, and brows.
Results for me, were seen within the first few days of use. I needed quick results because I had to create a spring makeup look for company I was working with. I definitely did not want scaly skin on my brows, around my hair line, or ears. I was able to create a makeup look that did not reveal any inflamed, or scaly skin. My hardest hit area has been behind the ears, where I had thick crusts of scales. Now the scales are at a minimum. I am certain they will be gone completely in a few more weeks. I can't wait!
