Today is Day Eight of the 30 Days of Beauty Blogging Challenge and it's time to talk about brushes. I am directing this post to the women who are overwhelmed by the amount of different brushes out there. This post is just to give the low-down on the essential brushes and tools needed for everyday makeup application.
Makeup SpongeIf you've seen any YouTube makeup tutorial you've seen them using something called a Beauty Blender. Beauty Blender is a brand but the name is also synonymous with the egg-shaped makeup sponges used to apply every type of liquid or cream face makeup and primer. This sponge makes it easy to apply foundation quickly and evenly to create an "air brushed" finish.
|Large Powder Brush|
Large Powder BrushA large powder brush is used to apply face powder. You can use it to apply loose or pressed powders to the face. You can also use it to buff and blend blush if you've applied too much.
Angled Blush/Contour BrushIf you want to apply blush in pretty much a single stroke, an angled blush brush will do the trick. This brush may be called a contour brush. It can be used for both because many blush compacts come with a contour shade. Yep, that's what the darker brownish shade next to your pretty pink blush is for, contouring.
Eyeshadow BrushAn eyeshadow brush applies eyeshadow quickly and picks up plenty of color for more impact. When wearing more than one color eyeshadow, start out applying the lightest shade first and finish with the darkest so you do not end up muddying your colors.
Eyeshadow Blending BrushEven if you are new to makeup you need to learn how to blend your eyeshadow. If you don't, you'll end up looking like a paint by numbers project. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube that show you how to blend your eyeshadow. It is a quick trick to learn and will save your face.
|Spoolie Brush for Brows|
SpoolieThis is the makeup brush that looks like a mascara wand. It is actually used to groom your eyebrows. Even if you do not use any brow makeup on your eyebrows, this tool comes in handy. Brush your brows into place with this tool to keep them under control.
Eyelash CurlerThis is not a brush but it is an essential makeup tool. Curled lashes help to better frame your eyes. Plus, you don't want a mascara covered eyelash falling into your eyes. So curl those pretty lashes before you apply mascara.
These seven beauty brushes/tools are all you need for daily makeup application. If you want to do more with your makeup and expound your brush knowledge stick with me. Next month, I will be doing a series on makeup brushes. I am not sure if I will write them for Fashion's Sense or SheKnows (Did I mention I write for them now?). I will let you know next month.
