Makeup Looks for the Holidays and New Year's Eve

Hey lovelies! December is here which means those holiday parties are coming up. Whether it is your company's annual holiday/Christmas party or a New Year's Eve party, you want to have a look that dazzles for the evening (unlike this Victoria's Secret model here -- joking). While the classic red lip and shimmering shadows are the standard fare, let me show you three looks that give you other options you might not have considered.

Modern Holiday Look

With this look I went for bold, defined brows with a bold lip that is not quite the norm. For eyes, I went light using gold tones and lining my eyes with a gold shadow. A little drama with the lashes achieved with Physician’s Formula Sexy Booster Mascara. For you false lash lovelies, apply a natural-looking faux fringe.

The statement is in the brows. I outlined them with a brow pencil, and then smudged it in to blend the outline and help color the brow a bit. I finished off with a brow powder to soften and darken. For lips, I chose a matte purple, Maybelline New York Color Sensational The Creamy Mattes in Vibrant Violet.

The Off-Site Holiday Party Look

This is when many people want to go with a bold red and a nude eye. I say reverse that this year. Go for the dramatic eye and nude lip. This one I called Snow at Midnight because I used navy blue, white, and black for the eye. Ultra black mascara, navy liner for upper lashline and at outer corner or lower lashline and winged out. Navy and silver white eyeshadow with white shadow as the top layer of color. Lips were nude. It doesn't even look like I have on lipstick.

This look benefits from a little strobing. It will help give you more of a holiday glow. I used Benefit's Watt's Up highlighter in this holiday look.

A Softer Side of Red for New Year's

Just because this post is steering clear of the classic red lip doesn't mean red is off the list. Allure magazine's November issue put a spotlight on the color red, but for the eyes. Any shade of red is a go. For this look, I chose a reddish-orange hue with gold for the eyes. I lined the eyes with a gold eyeshadow.

Cheeks were a reddish-pink shade and lips were a soft red with a touch of gold powder placed at the center. I went for a soft red that complimented my tone. Darker skin can get away with deeper and darker reds for this holiday look.

These three holiday makeup looks are something to play around with giving you options besides the norm for the holidays. I'm still on the fence for which I'll choose for Christmas and New Year's Eve. I might use these looks to give me an idea for something different like the autumn look I wore for Thanksgiving which was inspired by my red hot NYE look. Check it out and see how strong my side eye game is!
