Dreaming of Denim for Spring

Denim never really goes out of style as long as denim jeans are around. However, this twill weave fabric is taking the spotlight this spring. It plays a major role in the blue color trend of the season. However, denim in bold fashion colors like shades of pink, along with black and white are très chic for spring, as well. Let’s look at some cool ways to wear denim this season so you can mix things up a bit.

Denim Jacket

The denim jacket is making a comeback. This makes me wish I kept my stonewashed moto denim jacket from high school. Well... maybe not. But there are some very stylish denim jackets to choose from such as Levi's Women's Authentic Trucker Jacket.

Denim Shirt Dress

Shirtdresses are a staple for spring and summer. The denim shirtdress is a tricky creature to take on. The style details, wash and color dictate where you can get away with wearing it. Too much metal -- metal buttons, grommets, rivets, or zipper detailing -- is too casual-looking. The wash of the denim can make it look too casual as well. As a rule of thumb the lighter the wash, the more casual the denim looks. Save dresses like this Wrangler Women's Premium Dress for after working hours and the weekend. For work, stick with dark denim and fashion colors. A dress like T Tahari Women's Tristen Dress.

Denim Eye Makeup

Yes, even makeup can take on the denim look. For spring, you can still rock a muted or more smoked out denim eye from early to mid-spring. As spring ends and reaches into summer, choose shades of blue that are rich in color and not muted. Play with dark navy and royal blue or with iced blue for an acid wash effect. Play around with it to see what looks best on you.

Of course, you have your standard jean pants, skirt and shorts. These three ways highlighted are fun for spring. Since spring's hottest color is blue, wearing denim this season is pretty much made easy. So jean it up ladies for spring 2014!
