The dark wine lip color trend of the season gave way to this beauty crush. When many of us think of goth makeup, we think of the dark almost scary looking makeup that was seen in movies like The Craft or even Dorrit's look from The Carrie Diaries. Gothic makeup has come a long way from the 80s, 90, and early 2000's. A prettier side of goth -- one that has been around for some time -- is gaining more recognition, romantic gothic.
If you have never seen this look, think of the makeup seen on the Vampires in the Twilight Saga and Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. The look is very pretty and very sexy, sultry even. I experimented with this darkly sexy look on New Year's Eve. I was a little too chicken to go entirely dark but the changes did up the sexy meter a bit.
I recommend scouring YouTube for a few tutorials before you try a romantic gothic makeup look. TheMakeupChair's YouTube channel has a very sexy romantic gothic look that I fell in love with and was the inspiration for my beauty resolution to go dark in 2014. Here are a few others that are good:
